Hey Bachelorette Fans! We are here with one final post from this very lackluster, and entirely too long season of The Bachelorette.
I know not everyone was able to stick with Desiree and her band of miserable men until the end, but if you did, please read on to hear our thoughts and share yours :)
The episode started with a recap of the longest breakup in the history of ever, and showed Desiree crying just a little bit more about her break up with Brooks. Chris Harrison encouraged Des to go through with the rose ceremony and spend a little more time with both Drew and Chris before deciding to send them home. And Desiree did just that. She explained, tearfully, to the boys that Brooks had sent himself home, did not mention that she was in love with him, and then gave both of them roses.
At this point, I'm a little miffed. I really believed that Desiree loved Brooks, and the fact that she's just handing out roses willy nilly is really ruining my trust in her. Anyhow, it was clear that of the two suitors left, she liked Chris more. She hugged him much longer and that is evidence enough for me. (I was a heartbroken girl once, I get it. You hug the person you like best.)
We then cut to our bestie Chris Harrison with a live studio audience, where Chris decided to get some audience members opinions. We only listened to the audience member if they said something we agreed with. So, that lady who was rooting for Drew? She got skipped right over. But, the ladies who discussed Brooks coming back, or Desiree ending up alone, them we listened to.
Anyhow, back in Antigua, Desiree began a date with Drew by taking him horseback riding. And then leading him directly off a cliff. Ok, not really. But kind of. After just a very short horseback ride, Desiree had Drew stop along the beach and broke up with him.
And that is what I was hoping for (sorry, Drew). If she was so desperately in love with Brooks, she couldn't actually just continue to date these guys that she doesn't love... Could she? Regardless, she sent Drew packing and then, I assume, continued to cry about her lost love, Brooks.
Never fear, however, because that Desiree picked herself right back up and went on a date with Chris. Chris, met a much better fate than Drew, as he actually got to go on his date. They went boating and did a lot of other Antigua-y things and Desiree decided she did in fact want Chris to meet her family.
At some point Chris gave Desiree a journal. This had Michelle all kinds of torn up, shouting about how Zak already gave her a journal, and that it was too little, too late. Although, this one wasn't written in invisible ink, so that's something. Naturally, there were poems. Because that's what Chris does. He writes poems. A lot of 'em.
After another commercial break, Chris Harrison brings us back to the studio audience where we are reunited with some of our old friends. First, Sean and his child bride Catherine (seriously, she looked ten years younger than him) who declined to tell us about their wedding date. (Why? ABC is going to put it on TV anyway.) Then we got to see our old friends Jackie, Lesley, and Lindsay, who I am sure were thrilled to be hanging out in a room with Sean and Catherine again. The three ladies all took a turn to tell us basically that they thought Brooks had been a front runner, but that Desiree did seem happy with Chris, and that they just want their good friend Desiree to be happy.
Then we are magically transported back to the island of Antigua where Chris had the opportunity to meet Desiree's parents and her brother, Nate (dun, dun DUUUNNNN).
This was a fairly boring meet the parents. Desiree's family knew that Chris was the only guy left, so they really only had to determine if they liked him, they didn't have to compare him to another guy and see which one they'd rather spend Christmas with. Even Desiree's brother, who I was sure would cause a scene and make things a little more interesting, did not. He gave Chris a little bit of a once over and then asked Desiree about Brooks, because apparently even he knew she was going to pick Brooks. Desiree was able to explain it all away, and make it ok that the guy she was in love with is no longer in contention for guy she will marry.
When Chris and Desiree start preparing for the day of the supposed proposal I started shouting (yes, shouting) for Brooks. Because I really was convinced that he would come back. But instead, Neil Lane came out and sold Chris (Chris, ABC, whoever) a giant engagement ring. My hopes for seeing Brooks again were certainly starting to dwindle.
As Chris made his way up to the engagement patio, I start to realize that this girl is really going to let him propose to her, and I have begun to get a little disenchanted. If Desiree has to settle for her second choice on national TV with all of ABC's wealth and power behind her, how is there hope for us normal girls?! But wait-- there's a glimmer of hope! After Chris gives Desiree an (almost) poetic speech, she does in fact stop him from getting down on one knee! Chris looks terrified.
And then Desiree tells him that she had really strong feelings for Brooks, and him, and that she had been torn between the two of them all along. (Oh, really? That's not what you said last week.)
Then she told him Drew was gone.
Then she told him she loved him, that Brooks blindsided her and she wasn't able to see that Chris had been there all along.
AND THEN SHE LET HIM PROPOSE! And she even said yes.
I mean, congratulations, I suppose are in order. HOWEVER, I have strong doubts about this relationship. Desiree was heartbroken about Brooks and continued to tell us about how she had never had someone love her completely. And Chris, God love him, I think he does love the girl. But should he have to be with someone who is settling for him, just because he loves her? I am nervous for both of them, I really am. But only time will tell if these two crazy kids can make it after all!
I can honestly say, thank goodness this season is over! Desiree was a little bit of a dud, and the men were.. well, they were collectively the worst group ever.
Here's hoping that in January Juan Pablo will be able to bring us a little bit more.... just more. More of everything.
Until then, friends! :)

The longest break up in the history of ever... Bachelorette 7/29/13
Hey friends! Hope you have been well while winding this semi-unfortunate season of The Bachelorette to an end.
Did you watch The Men Tell All special? So did we. I actually was going to blog about it, but every time I sat down to write it up, I felt like I was rehashing all the same old things we have all already talked about. Because that's what the men in this season are all about: talking everything to death.
But, now we are down to the final three men in Antigua and there is apparently drama ahead, as the previews showed plenty of tears to go around.
Desiree recapped her relationships with each of the three men, and based on what she had to say, I think we all know Drew and Chris do not stand even a remote chance. Desiree has made it clear that she in fact loves Brooks, and has said that her relationship with Brooks is on another level than the others. Des, why are we even still here? Couldn't you have made a deal with ABC where we watched you and Brooks get to know each other for a few weeks, rather than dragging all these other guys, and their families, through the all this unnecessary drama?
Desiree's first date was with Drew. He's sweet, he's easy on the eyes, he uses a lot of hair product, he may be gay, but I go into watching this date thinking two things:
1. Poor Drew. Desiree is going to send you home.
2. When is all the crying going to start?
But, regardless of my thoughts, Drew and Desiree spent the day driving and going to an Antiguan market village. It was exactly the kind of date you would want to have if you were in fact in love with the person you were with, which Desiree is apparently not. Their dinner on the beach was washed out by rain, so our Dynamic Duo entered the fantasy suite early, where they apparently were not allowed to eat their dinner? Just because it is raining, ABC, doesn't mean they don't want to eat. The pair had a talk about open communication and assertiveness, and then Drew booted the cameras right out of the suite so he and Desiree could do whatever it is that they were going to do in there.
We next found ourselves in Boise, Idaho where our friend Brooks needed to go to see his mom and sister before being going to Antigua. Brooks sat down with two of the ladies in his life to discuss his feelings, where he is at emotionally with his relationship with Desiree, and whether or not he was truly in love with her.
Right off the bat, Brooks says he's uncomfortable with the idea of proposing to Desiree and that he shies away from answering the question of whether or not he loves her. Well, Brooks, if you already know these two things, why are we even still here? Brooks of course says there are a lot of things he does love about Desiree, but he's just not far enough down the relationship road and isn't ready for all this. His sister told him he should really know by now, and that if he wasn't where he needed to be yet, then he wasn't in love. Because it is so unrealistic that a guy would need more than 9 weeks before being ready to propose to a girl? We have clearly somehow gotten our priorities skewed here in Bachelor(ette) nation, and Brooks's sister has fallen right down the rabbit hole.
Next up, Desiree's date with Chris. The two took a helicopter ride to a deserted beach where they set up a delightful picnic. Again, we have an example of a romantic date with a sweet guy, who we already know Desiree is not in love with. What I want to know is, Desiree, why are you doing all of this?
Let's just say you choose Brooks and the two of you are happy as clams. Now, the two of you are home together, watching the season on TV, and Brooks is saying "Wait- if you knew you were in love with me, why were you and Chris rolling around in the surf together?" Think it through, Desiree, think it through.
Back to the date, Chris and Desiree went to their romantic dinner, where I was completely distracted by the screeching noises coming from the jungle behind them. (Did anyone else hear them? Seriously, they were almost the only thing I could focus on.) Desiree, who is, again, in love with a different guy, asks Chris about the future. They discussed the job he has in Seattle and the prospects of her moving there to be with him, which are apparently good. Even though she doesn't love him? (In case you hadn't picked up on it, Desiree is driving me nuts in this episode. I am clearly ready for our new season to start in January.)
Desiree offered Chris the fantasy suite card, which he naturally accepted, and then read her some poetry. Of course.
Now that we have seen dates for both Chris and Drew, it is as if the two of them are completely interchangeable for Desiree. She says all the same things about both of them, and there seems to be very little variation.
We were now treated to another one of Desiree's little love fests for Brooks. Which was particularly poignant considering we already know Brooks is having serious doubts.
Brooks was in fact having so many doubts that he needed to schedule a sit down with everyone's favorite therapist, Chris Harrison.
Brooks tried, very unsuccessfully, to explain to Chris (and all of us) how he was feeling about Desiree. Basically, what it boils down to is this: Brooks is not in love with Desiree. He has strong feelings for her, which in any normal relationship after the 9 week mark would likely be enough, but not strong enough to call her the love of his life. So, we are where we are. Had Brooks and Desiree met on the streets, would those two crazy kids have been able to work it out? We may never know. But what we do know is that Brooks probably needs a little more time before proposing to a girl and he unfortunately is not going to get it.
Meanwhile, Desiree has been preparing herself for a romantic, stress free day with Brooks and she is thrilled when she sees him approaching her. Until she realizes somethings wrong. And the poor girl, I honestly think she didn't realize it was about her until they had crossed the beach, walked down a dock, and found a bench.
We then began the longest break-up in the history of ever. Desiree was (finally) honest with someone and told Brooks that she was in love with him, not with the other guys. To which he responded, "Why didn't you tell me?" Maybe Brooks was just guarding and protecting his heart (thanks Kasey!) because he didn't want to fall in love with someone who might not choose him? Maybe if he had known, he could have let himself fall in love? Again, things we won't know because of the magic of TV dating.
Brooks and Desiree broke up for almost 30 minutes. There was a lot of crying, a lot of sighing, a lot of apologies... it was really not a pretty scene.
Why now, Brooks? Because I didn't know before, Desiree.
There are so many things I love about you, Desiree. That isn't making it any easier, Brooks.
I was conflicted because I wanted to be spending all my time with you, Brooks. I wish you had told me that sooner, Desiree.
I lose our connection when we are apart, Desiree. Go to hell, Brooks. (Ok, she didn't say that. But she should have.)
Meanwhile, Brooks' hair took this opportunity to star in its own show entitled "Watch Me Dance" in which Brooks' hair was OUT OF CONTROL. Dude, if you are going to choose to have hair that long, know your boundaries with running your hands through it.
After they FINALLY separated, Desiree went back to the water to cry by herself, and Brooks, also cried alone in the woods. But why the sobs, Brooks? Because you don't want to leave Desiree?
I think Brooks was unprepared for what happened in his break up with Des. I don't think he expected to find out that Desiree was so desperately in love with him.
But what will happen next Bachelorette fans?? Will this sudden turn of break up events be enough to make Brooks realize he is in love with Desiree, and he was just afraid? Or will he head back to Utah and settle down there?
And what will happen to Chris and Drew?
I suppose we will all have to tune in next week to find out.

Where have all the men gone?
I know what you're thinking, Lindsey, you are the one who has been gone all this time, not us. And truly, I am sorry for my absence. But worry not, I have seen each and every episode and I am prepared to break the hometown dates down for you here and now. So, buckle your seat belts and get ready for Home-Town-Palooza!
(I should add a disclaimer here that I have been dismally disappointed with the selection of Bachelors this season. And I cannot promise that I won't allow my true feelings to show through here tonight. But I will be fair and give you Michelle's opinion too, as she is nicer than I am. :)
Date 1: Zak in Dallas
I am not a fan of Zak. He started off the season wearing no clothes and standing on a tiny deck, and really, hasn't gotten any better from there. (Michelle disagrees. She thinks he's lovely and he has really grown on her. Michelle sees that Des and Zak are good for one another and that Cupid has flung an arrow at them. (I mean if even Cupid wasn't all that invested, why should we be?))
Zak meets up with Des in the park and is immediately goofy and silly with her, which she does seem to love about him. Then he revealed the family Sno-Cone Mobile. Michelle is of course, LOVING the Sno-Cones, and insisting that everyone loves a Sno-Cone on a hot day. Which may be true, but it doesn't make me like him any more. Then... he dressed up as a Penguin. I really have no words. But, the kids seemed to like it and Desiree told them all that the penguin was her boyfriend.
Then, they took the Sno-Cone Mobile on over to meet Zak's family; his mom, dad, brother and sister. Zak regaled his family with the story of his shirtless entrance. They were no more impressed than I was. I did actually like Zak's family. His mom was funny and sweet, and if perhaps Zak will tone it down after the show is over, I can get closer to the boarding gate. Though I am still not quite on board.
Zak rearranged the song he wrote for Desiree (which he sang during the Miss America date) and had his brother and sister sing it, while he played the guitar. Desiree and Michelle were very touched. I was not horrified. Zak took Desiree outside and offered her a ring to show her he loved her (Michelle started crying at this point, I am going to have to get a new companion to watch this show with).
The grand total on Zak is one Princess with a thumbs up, and one with a thumbs down. Who do you side with?
Date 2: Drew in Scottsdale
Shockingly, I am also not a fan of Drew. He's nice enough, but... I think he might be gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that, but I just think he might be on the wrong show. Unless of course, his goal is to be the next Bachelorette. And then perhaps Drew has been on the right track all along. (And how much hair product can one man use? Simmer down on the hair gel, Drew.)
Desiree called Drew 'adorable' upon meeting up with him, which is a great word to describe your puppy, but less of a great word to describe your boyfriend. Drew is taking Desiree to meet his dad, his mom and step-dad, his brother and sister and their spouses, their kids, and then his other sister. And a partridge in a pear tree. (How many family members did you think was appropriate for a first meeting, Drew?) To make things more awkward, this will be the first time Drew's dad has been to his mom's house. Fun times!
Drew is the guy with a sister who has disabilities. Desiree is really excited to meet Melissa, which is super sweet. Melissa was really excited to see Drew, probably because he's been away for so long. Desiree's meeting with Melissa went really well, and the three of them went on their way to meet the rest of Drew's ginormous family.
Desiree's time with Drew's family was a lot more serious than her time with Zak's family. I think that for a first meeting things do not necessarily need to be quite so serious. (Michelle started projecting what might be happening if she was meeting Drew's family. She was talking VERY fast and was clearly uncomfortable, which furthers my opinion that less serious is more on a hometown date.) Drew told Des that he loves her, making Des 2 for 2 tonight.
Drew gets two thumbs down from the Couch Potato Princesses, how did you decide?
Date 3: Chris in McMinnville (that's in Oregon, y'all)
I dislike Chris less than I dislike the previously mentioned bachelors. He's a poet, which isn't really my bag, but whatever works for ya, Chris. He seems to be an all around good guy, with a nice sense humor and a good head on his shoulders. Which might be great if I was looking to hire someone to do my taxes, but less great when I am looking for a husband.
Desiree dropped the bomb that Chris apparently played professional baseball. Did any of you know that? We did not know that. We thought he was just merely a mortgage broker. Chris and Des did have a really cute baseball date together. The combo of wine and baseball has really made me like Chris. I didn't think it was possible, but it seems to be happening. He's still no Arie, but we can't all be professional racecar drivers who kiss with the skill of a Roman god. We'll see how the rest of the date pans out for Chris.
Chris didn't break down his family for me, but there were a few of them. Not like Drew style or anything, but more than Zak had. Chris' dad is a chiropractor, and he offered to give Des an adjustment. So... that was weird. I like going to the chiropractor, don't get me wrong, but it was weird. Chris then had his dad put a balloon up his nose... I don't know what that does, but I am calling my mom, who used to work for a chiropractor, to ask.
Chris' family didn't like his last girlfriend, so it is going to all come down to what the overprotective mama says. And Mom does seem to like Des, though it was almost begrudging that she gave him her approval. Chris... I don't know if baseball can overcome this weird family element you've got going on.
The Princesses give Chris two very confused thumbs to the side. He was great (other than that weird balloon up the nose thing) but his family was more awkward than I feel comfortable with.
Date 4: Brooks in Salt Lake City (Welcome to the Land of Many Wives)
Brooks has been my favorite up until now, but really that is only because I feel like I had to pick one. Michelle thinks Brooks needs a haircut, and that they did have a connection in the beginning, but she is not sure that it has moved on from the initial spark.
Desiree told the camera she "loves Brooks" which is a problem since he told the camera he's not sure how he feels. (Can she even say that? Is that allowed? Did she mean love, love, or love in the way that I love my brown wedges? It matters.) It's hard for him not to have enough time to really figure out his feelings, which is understandable, but not how the show works. Sooo, pull it together or leave, Brooks. Desiree gathered some memories of her and Brooks to share together and the two had a nice little stroll down memory lane.
Brooks took Des on a canoe date, which was going great until the boat almost tipped. However, this whole start to their date reminded us how much of a deep connection Brooks and Des have shared since the beginning. They do seem to have a lot in common and enjoy being together, but if Brooksie is having doubts than really, why are we even still here?
Desiree brought a small gift to Brooks' house, which is the first time she's done that this episode (you know, because she loves him). Brooks' family is apparently so large (welcome to Utah, y'all) that they have to wear name tags. Desiree seems much more interested in meeting Brooks' family which is either because she's head over heels for him, or because she's unsure.
Brooks' brothers were concerned that Des couldn't "hang" with him, but Brooks thinks she can. Des told Brooks' mom that her biggest concern was whether or not Brooks was ready for marriage, and his mom assured Des that with the right woman, he would be. Brooks had a sweet heart to heart with his sister where she explained how Brooks should be feeling about Des. Brooks' mom told him that she was surprised by some of Desiree's questions; like she may be concerned if that Des is unsure that Brooks is ready, maybe Brooks might not actually be in love with Des.
I just don't know, Brooks. I want to love you, but I am worried you're not committed to Desiree. He is apparently feeling a bit more comfortable about Des now that she's been to Salt Lake, and he seems to think it has been a turning point.
We are giving Brooks two princess thumbs up, though Michelle's comes with trepidation because she thinks he might be a little bit tooooo serious.
After the hometown dates were over, Desiree had a meeting set up with her brother, who she hasn't seen since the fiasco of her hometown date with Sean. Desiree felt like she needed to clear the air with Nate since she needs to decide whether or not she wants for him to meet the final two guys who will meet her family. Nate really probably thinks this whole TV dating show thing is a crock. He seems to have no faith in the process and to his mind, Desiree should be able to tell him who the "winner" is right now, if it is working. Desiree thinks Nate is more open this time around (which is not really the vibe I picked up on, but she was there, I wasn't) and will consider having him there to meet the guys with her parents.
Chris (Harrison.. not the former professional baseball player) and Desiree had a heart to heart before the rose ceremony so that Desiree can sort out her feelings before giving out a rose. Desiree expressed to Harrison that she's in love with Brooks (love, love, not brown wedges love) and we got the impression that Chris was a close second. This kind of sent Michelle into a bit of a spiral as she really feels bad for Zak. (I was less empathetic.) Desiree then did that really reflective show where she stares at each picture as if the head shots are going to reveal a deep truth to her before she starts handing out roses.
Michelle got anxious hiccups during the rose ceremony, which saw her favorite, Zak, leave us. She then went into a theatrical performance about the agony she (and Zak) were feeling at his departure. So long, Zak. We are sad to see you go (though some of us CLEARLY more than others).
Michelle and I both peg Drew as the next cast off. I am still rooting for Brooks to win and Michelle refuses to participate in predicting because now that Zak, who she hated when he was on the tiny deck, is gone, no one can win and everyone will lose.
What are your thoughts about who will indeed win Desiree's love? Comment below and let us know!

Has anyone else noticed how many contestants names start with B? Bachelorette update 6/17
Hello Again Bachelorette friends! We are brought together once again by our good friend Desiree and her 13 remaining contestants. That's right, everyone, we are down to just 13 men left, which means I am going to try really, really hard to learn everyone's names. We'll see how that goes.
Chris Harrison arrived first thing to let the men know their adventure around the world was beginning with... Atlantic City. (Not Fiji, or Dubai, or anything... but better than Montana.)
In Atlantic City Desiree's first one on one date was with Brad at the Boardwalk amusement park. During the date, Michelle and I had differing opinions on Brad. I liked him, she did not. We did both agree, as did Desiree, that Brad is exceptionally attractive. Michelle thought Brad had no depth and that Desiree would need more from a relationship. Ultimately, Michelle was right, and Des did send Brad home. Good bye Brad, it was fun while it lasted.
And this, my fine friends leaves us with a Baker's Dozen of Bachelors left here on the show. (Look closely to see who the baker is ;)

Desiree moved right along with a Mr. America pageant group date that was HILARIOUS. Whoever is in charge of the group dates this season is packing a big punch to make up for the lack of quality men on this season.
On this date we saw Brooks (who is surprisingly climbing higher on the approval meter), Bryden (still our favorite), Zak W., #Kasey, Juan Pablo, Zak K., Drew, Mikey T., Michael G., Ben, and Chris. (Who is Chris? I swear I've never seen him before either.)
The competition will consist of 3 portions: talent, interview, and swimsuit. While the men practiced their talents they were coached by our reigning Miss America on how to answer interview questions.
Some highlights from the interview portion included:
#Kasey declaring himself a giver, given the choice of any animal Brooks would be a lion, Juan Pablo has a daughter (what? a daughter? did you know that?), Mikey T. gave a men are sensitive speech because he doesn't want to be seen as a "meathead".
Highlights from the talent portion:
#Kasey badly tap dancing with a heartfelt story before hand, Brooks broke a ukulele, Ben did a ribbon dance, Chris wore heels and performed with hoola hoops, and Zak W. sang an original song.
At the end of the competition the results were:
3rd place: Brooks
2nd place: Zak W.
1st place: #Kasey
Congrats, #Kasey... But will it be enough to get him the rose??
Naturally, there was a pool at the after party. Because as I have mentioned before, there is a one swimming pool per episode minimum.
Chris revealed he is a poet and shared his poems with Des, which earned him a kiss.
Ben, everyone's least favorite contestant, had his one on one time in plain sight of everyone, not off privately like others do. Michael pointed this out to us, noting that Ben doesn't just want one on one time with Desiree, he wants everyone to know he's having one on one time with Desiree. This does seem to be an accurate description. Which just adds one more reason why we do not in fact like Ben.
(Meanwhile, James is back at the hotel by himself, treating himself to a romantic evening of bubbles, chocolate, wine, and lounging about in his robe.)
Zak W. finished singing his original song to Des which earned him the rose.
James and Desiree went on a one on one date tour of the Hurricane Sandy devastation. This date was a bit of a downer.. I get it, you're in Jersey, you want to pay homage to this tragedy that happened, but maybe a group date would have been better? For a one on one, this was not the greatest. Desiree and James did meet with a couple who's home had been destroyed by the storm. Manny and Jan were in fact the best part of the date. Des and James donated their date to them and we got to see them enjoying a delightful dinner for two.
Since their fancy dinner had been given away, Desiree and James went to a dive bar and enjoyed dinner there (because really it's not where you are, it's who you're with, ya know?). Michelle and I quickly we realized we are indeed James fans. He's sweet, caring, and fun (all those sprinkles Michelle claims not to care about in a man). James opened up to Desiree about his past and that he did cheat on a long term girlfriend. Because James was a freshman in college we have decided it is ok to give him a pass on this. We of course do not in anyway condone cheating, but at 18 when you are still figuring yourself out, have little to no self control, and were most likely intoxicated, we think there might be a bit of wiggle room.
James and Desiree then headed over to Manny and Jan's dinner date and surprised them with a refurbished version of their wedding album that had been ruined in the storm. Then, because ABC just keeps on giving, we all went to a private Darius Rucker concert, where Des did give James a rose.
During the cocktail party Desiree spent time with all the right people. Michael G. played a very cute letter game which resulted in his first (I think) kiss with Des.
Bryden, our favorite, apparently has decided he might send himself home. Bryden, if you do go home, Michelle and I are willing to change our North Carolina vacation to a Montana vacation. Just you know... send us your address.
When Bryden did talk to Desiree about his feelings she reassured him that she does feel a connection and see potential in their relationship, and that she does indeed want him to stay. Bryden is still determining if his feelings are at the right place, and he will think about whether or not he shall stay.
As the rose ceremony went on we learned the fate of all of our (semi) favorites: Brooks, Juan Pablo, Michael G., Chris, Drew, and yes even #Kasey received roses to stay, along with our non-favorites Ben, and Mikey T., and our (real) favorite Bryden.
Which left Zak K. as the last man standing without a rose. So long Zak. We will most likely not notice you are gone, but take comfort in the fact that we feel that way about most of the men this season.
Michelle's quote of the night: "You know who Desiree would go well with? Arie. Why did no one think of trying that?" Touche, Michelle. Touche.

Brian has a girlfriend, Brad is a dad, and Brooks broke a finger... Bachelorette Update 6/10
We meet once again, Bachelorette fans! And Desiree sure did have a LOT of drama for us to discuss last night! Since Michelle has still not come home from her two week deluxe getaway, I was stuck watching the Bachelorette alone again... So I needed to call in yet another guest commentator: very good friend to the Couch Potato Princesses Vicki was present on the couch and her thoughts will pop into the blog here and there for your enjoyment. (And I will investigate what is apparently an issue I have with co-dependency.)
The night started off with a Love is a Battlefield (Vicki's favorite Pat Benetar song) group date. Desiree rounded up several men, who's names I cannot all recall because there are STILL too many of them and I haven't learned all their names, to play a rousing game of dodge ball. Because apparently over at ABC we still have learned basically nothing after the Boxing Date Ashley H. brought us on, or the Roller Derby Date Sean had for us last season. But a new game, new men, new risks, is apparently the motto we are rolling with today.
During dodge ball practice Chris Harrison showed up without his champagne flute or a rose, so we knew there was some kind of twist in store for us. Chris split the boys into teams and declared that the winners of the dodge ball tournament would be the only team allowed to go to the group date after party with Desiree. The stakes had been raised and the men were ready to deliver. When Vicki and I decided we needed to pick a team to support we realized we couldn't, because we didn't remember anyone's names and now they were all dressed in matching blue and red outfits. Ultimately, I decided on red because I thought the blue team looked a little bit douchier than the red. The red and blue teams each won one game, bringing our tournament down to the third game in order to find a winner. In a moment of extreme sports drama Brooks goes down... with a hurt finger. Yes, our friend Brooks of the longish greasy hair had quite the ouchy. So bad, in fact, that he needed to be taken to the hospital to get it taken care of. Get well soon Brooks! In the meantime, the other guys will continue to woo Desiree while you're off being a baby. (I don't know, broken fingers might hurt really bad, but I feel like he maybe could have been a teensy bit less dramatic.)
After Brooks' departure the game ended with the blue team victorious. In a plot turn that I am sure everyone saw coming Desiree decided that all the men should come to the after party, not just the winners. Good call Des, the blue team was definitely the lamer team. While the party rages on with drinks and snacks we cut to a shot of Brooks writhing in the hospital in the most pain he's ever been in (his words, not mine). Desiree lifts a glass and has the men make a toast to Brooks, which I am sure will really help to calm all that pain he's in over in the ER.
The very handsome Brad wound up with some one on one time with Desiree, which brought up the question: Who is Brad? Sir, you actually have to be a contestant on this show from the first night.. we don't just let handsome men in in the middle of the competition. Ok, I'm sure Brad has been around from the beginning, I just don't remember him. I think I do like him now though, and not just because he is handsome, but also because he is personable and sweet. (Also, Brad is a dad. Which really is neither here nor there, just wanted to say it because it rhymed.)
At this point in our viewing the shocking fact of truth came out that Vicki still likes Tierra. Apparently, I've judged her too harshly and Tierra is really not all that bad. You can decide who's right and who's wrong. While Vicki and I were having a riveting debate over the ever so sparkly Tierra, Desiree was having a revolving door of one on one moments with all the men. Chris found a super secret spot on the roof which Desiree loved. She especially loved hanging her feet off the side of the building. This is when I realized I'd be the most boring Bachelorette ever, because not only would I not hang my feet off the side of a building, I most likely wouldn't be on the roof of a building, and I certainly wouldn't be repelling down anything, ever. But I digress.
Brooks has now made his triumphant return to the after party and he has his work cut out for him because as Vicki ever so accurately and elegantly pointed out: "Everyone else is in their pimpin' clothes and he's still in his shorty shorts from the dodge ball game." But, despite his shorty shorts, Brooks got immediate one on one time with Desiree AND a kiss. So take that guy who broke Brooks' finger.
In the end, Chris ended up with the ever so coveted group date rose for finding that Inspector Gadget spot for him and Desiree. Tonight's group date rose is extra special because it includes a private concert by Kate Earl. (Who's Kate Earl? Can she do a Joan Osborne cover? Because she sounds just like Joan Osborne. A little "One of Us" would have been stellar.)
The next day while Desiree is hanging out with her sketch book Chris Harrison called her with shocking news. Desiree immediately hopped into her baby blue Bentley and headed over to the guys' mansion to have herself a confrontation. Because I learned in the previews very early on that Brian in fact had a girlfriend back home I was less than surprised when Desiree pulled him outside to talk, and then did her very best to catch Brian spinning a web of lies, knowing full well his girlfriend was on her way out. And Chris Harrison paraded her right on through the house for all of the men to see. When our new friend Stephanie stepped onto the patio she immediately called Brian a liar and and begin hurling the accusations. According to Steph, she tried to break up with Brian before he left to come on the show, but he convinced her to just take a break. (These people apparently learned nothing from Ross and Rachel.) Brian told Stephie he just needed some time to himself and they could reconnect after he got back from his "business trip" in Cali. Not great Brian, not great. You've now gone from two girlfriends, to none.
Brandon began to cry because his mom brought father figures in and out of his life throughout his childhood and since ole Stephie is a single mom, this hits close to home for him. Somehow Brandon has managed to make this whole situation about him... I am not sure if I should be applauding him, or be sick of him.
After all the drama and crying was over #Kasey, who I don't even remember seeing last week, got a one on one date. Desiree took him to Sunset Boulevard to do some kind of extreme dancing on the side of a building. Naturally, before they could begin dancing, the pair needed to repel down the building first. Why so many terrifying dates on this show? After the dancing was over, Des and #Kasey made their way to a swimming pool, because what else do you do in the Santa Ana winds other than go swimming?! (And we needed to meet our episode minimum of one swimming pool.) #Kasey did earn himself a rose because he was such a good sport through the bad moods and the bad weather of the day.
For her final date of the evening, Desiree brought 5 gentlemen on some kind of lone ranger date. A horse drawn carriage brought the men to meet Desiree, who was dressed in a Gone with the Wind style dress. Desiree is immediately attacked by what we should assume to be a smarmy gentleman, but our Desiree is able to fend him off with a quick one-two punch, of course. The guys are going to be "competing" in a Hollywood stunt show type activity where they rescue our damsel in distress from some less than savory characters. The men get dressed up in some delightful cowboy outfits and then take turns acting out their scenes. Notable moments include how adorable our favorite Bryden was, Dan (who the heck is Dan?!) splitting his pants, and lots of fake punches. When Juan Pablo took his turn, he whispered some kind of Spanish nothing into Desiree's ear as he swept her away to his horse. As Bryden pointed out, for all we know he was spouting off a recipe for pasta, but it sure did sound good to Des. So good, in fact, that she gave him the ranger badge which earned him a movie screening with Desiree. Movies are not the best date, because you cannot really talk and get to know each other. You can kiss, however. Smooth moves, Juan Pablo. Vicki believes that Latin lovers lie, so watch out Des, there may still be another liar in your midst. (PS: What do you think the other guys are doing during this movie screening?)
During the after party James, aka Clark Kent, got some good one on one time with Desiree AND a rose. (Why not Bryden, Desiree? Why?) In a move that earned him 1,000 points Clark Kent gave Desiree a daisy after getting his rose. It was super cute, fun and flirty. But it did not result in a kiss for James. Hmmm.
Desiree canceled the cocktail party in favor of a pool party. All that tells me is that Desiree would rather wear a bathing suit than a sparkly party dress. On behalf of "normal" women every where, Desiree, boo to you, ma'am. Ben approached Desiree before she arrived at the party so the two of them could go on a "secret" car ride together. Ben, I am losing patience with you. And what is up with your tank top? Luckily for me, Vicki was here to corroborate my feelings that Ben is an ass. Can anyone explain it? I know that I am still struggling to find the words to explain why it is that I don't like him. If you know what it is, please comment below! We need to know! The pool party was basically just like the cocktail party, only with water. It wasn't anything special or spectacular, with no real good conversations to note; other than Brandon who may actually be too big of a cry baby.
Suddenly Suits! All the men had time to change and dapper themselves up so as to attend the rose ceremony. In the end, Desiree sent home Brandon and Dan.
Dan... We barely knew you. Which is probably why you got sent home.
Brandon... it was probably that cry baby thing I mentioned earlier.
Two thumbs up on cast offs tonight Desiree. The only thing that would have been better is if you had sent Ben home instead.
And there you have it friends! Another week of The Bachelorette behind us! My favorites right now are of course Bryden and I am starting to really like James as well.

Let the Man Drama Commence!
Because boy, did it. This season's crop of Bachelor's will apparently NOT disappoint with the drama factor. But I'll get to all that later.
Last night I had to watch The Bachelorette without Michelle, so naturally I brought in a special guest to help me with the recap: Jean! I will be sure to share her invaluable opinion with you all throughout the recap. ;)
First and foremost- Zak is wearing a shirt. This may be the first time we have seen him in a shirt. I am having a hard time deciding if this is good news or bad news. Good to know he at least does own a shirt, even though he could potentially never wear one if he lived in a warm enough climate.
Anyhow, let's start with Desiree's first one on one date of the season with Brooks.
Desiree took Brooks to a wedding salon. Because all men want their first date to be picking out wedding dresses and tuxes. But Brooks didn't seem to mind as he pranced about in a leprechaun green tuxedo.
After Brooks was dressed a little more appropriately and Desiree had a wedding dress on, the two ran out of the store and hopped in their baby blue Bentley ready for a night of adventure or perhaps a trip to a drive by wedding chapel.
Desiree drove them to what appeared to be the top of a mountain and the two of them began a bit of a hike. Our guest potato brought up a good point here; did they pay for these outfits? They are traipsing about in the dirt and dust wearing wedding costumes (yes, costumes) that, for as much as we know, they stole. I mean, I'm sure ABC covered the cost and it should be more about the magic of the date but we have real and logical questions over here. But I digress.
Desiree and Brooks then made a quick little jaunt out to the Hollywood sign where they sat and overlooked the city sharing their first kiss. You know, a typical Monday for the rest of us.
After dressing themselves in more appropriate attire our dynamic duo were out for a luxurious drive when they happened upon a blocked off road. Desiree thought it would be really fun to move the road blocks and venture down the streets, which made Brooks very nervous. Almost visibly so. Des is a jokester, so I was less nervous. Turned out there was a beautiful dinner set up for them to enjoy. See, Brooks? I told you there was nothing to worry about ;)
Brooks I don't actually remember from the premiere, so I can only imagine that he didn't make too much of an impression on me. However, after last night's show he has grown on me a bit. With shorter, less greasy hair I'd probably like him even more.
During dinner Des asked some questions about Brooks' family, and he seemed uneasy about opening up to her. There's only like a million people watching.. not sure what his hold up might be... In the end, he decided to share with Desiree, which was a good move since he got a rose out of it. Then in the most normal of first date activities; Andy Grammer showed up to perform a private concert.
Not impressed, ABC. Get me Celine, and we'll talk.
As I said Desiree did in fact give Brooks a rose so he will be back to Date Another Day. (See what I did there, Danny? I put a James Bond reference in there so all our male readers would know we still love and care about them even through all this Bachelorette drama. We are trying, I promise!)
Moving on to what has to be my favorite group date in history: shooting a rap video.
There were a lot of guys on this date. I can't name them all. I have a hard time learning the names of the male contestants. There are a lot of them and they all kind of look alike.. all buff and well groomed for the most part. The women have more distinct features and it is much easier for me to learn their names. Anyway, that is off topic.
Desiree invited her good friend Soulja Boy to come by and help her swooning suitors learn to rap and dance for what I am sure will be the best produced rap video of this decade. At first I thought, "Meh. That's kind of a silly idea for a date. But whatever works for you Des." Then I realized the rap made fun of past Bachelors and contestants. And I could not stop laughing.
After the video shoot was a wrap, we went to the traditional party that follows a group date where the men try to make a connection with Desiree and earn the coveted group date rose ensuring them a return to Bachelor Mansion next week.
Zak got Desiree some kind of journal that she thought was really cool. Truth time: I wasn't paying quite as much attention to this part, so I am not 100% sure what this book was. Feel free to leave a comment and let me know. Whatever is was, Desiree really loved it. Way to put on your clothes and make something happen, Zak.
And then there was Ben. Who I do not like. He reminds me of a mix of Kalen and Bentley. He's completely self important like Kalen with a bit more of Bentley's demeanor. Could not stand him. Luckily for me, the other guys hate him a lot, too. So at least I'm not alone. (We'll see if anyone dulls his sparkle before the season is over.) The thing is, I don't really have a reason I don't like him. I just think he has a superior attitude and seems kind of deceitful, like he's constantly lying and hiding things. Plus, his attitude is borderline inappropriate. And if a guy is borderline inappropriate when he first meets you and in a social setting, then that's who he is, whether it is with your friends, your family, or eventually the PTA. And really, does anyone want to bring an inappropriate guy to hang out with their girlfriends or their mom? It doesn't sit well with me. But that's just me. We'll see what happens. (Jean confirmed all my thoughts about Ben, she concurs that he is a jerk.)
DRAMA ALERT: These boys are gossiping, complaining, and whining about Ben worse than a gaggle of middle school girls who just learned that Kelly stole Jessie's boyfriend during lunch. If you are in the mood to see a bunch of grown men whine and complain you will have to look no further, because these guys have got it down. And Mikey T., do not think it has escaped me that you are the ringleader in the Anti-Ben Complainer Nation Movement (ABCNM for short). Drama, drama, drama.
Sweet little Brandon carved out some time to talk with Desiree and he was so nervous and self conscious it was almost painful, poor little guy. Brandon comes from humble beginnings and has a sad story to tell and it was almost like he was afraid he wouldn't be enough because he's not grand and spectacular like that super annoying Ben thinks he is. I do like Brandon, and he didn't wear pants in your music video Desiree, you could throw the kid a bone and give him the group date rose.
Oh, what's that? You're going to give it to Ben? The guy no one likes? Yea, that's cool. No one has ever done that before. I am sure it will work out better for you than for the others. Desiree, did you learn nothing from the disaster that was Tierra last season? Or Kalen? Or Bentley? Or Vienna? Or Michelle Money? There's like a thousand more I can list. But I won't.
Next Desiree took Bryden on a one on one date road trip.
Bryden has never been to California and Desiree says it is the place that embodies her, so he was clearly the perfect choice for such a date :)
Bryden was super cute, and has maintained his position as this Couch Potato Princess's favorite bachelor. He brought out a lighter, fun side of Desiree, who is pretty light and fun anyway, so that's saying something. Bryden opened up and shared some personal stories with Desiree.
Personal stories are always the way to a rose, gentlemen. Which Bryden got. Making us sure that we will see his super cute face again next week.
Desiree and Bryden took a swim in the pool because it wouldn't be a complete episode until someone went swimming in the pool. They were getting closer and closer to that moment where you tell the girl you had an excellent time then you kiss her. And Bryden was telling her... and telling her... and telling her... And then Desiree finally told him, just kiss me already!
Quote from Michelle via text: I also like Desiree's take charge attitude. We can all learn from her.
At the cocktail party Desiree wore a beautiful shimmery dress that reminded me of a mermaid. I have a special place in my heart for mermaids. ;)
The ABCNM was out in full force at this ceremony. It was a hot mess. They even confronted Ben out in front of the mansion. This may present us with more cat fights than the girls ever have, so please, stay tuned.
In cast off news:
Premature Will was sent home.. Perhaps he peaked too soon?
Robert and Nick M were also sent home... I am not entirely sure that they have been on the show the whole time. Either way, Nick, our guest potato Jean is returning home to Charlotte today.. Go ahead and look her up ;)
Sorry tonight's post is so long... I clearly had a lot to say! Hopefully you enjoyed the show and my ramblings! Follow the link to see Desiree's super awesome rap video!!

Bachelorettes Unite! 5/27/13 Recap
It is that time once again friends where we welcome Chris Harrison and his brood of merry men back to our screens. The Bachelorette is back!
This season Desiree Hartsock will be our Bachelorette,

one of Sean's unfortunate casualties last season. You may remember Desiree as being the one girl that Sean seemed to have the best connection with, or you may remember her as the girl we decided to like when our first choice went home, or you may just remember her as that girl who looked a lot like Katie Holmes (this was particularly bothersome to me last season, as you may recall). But no matter how you remember her, Desiree was by far the most heartbreaking of the women to be sent home last season. She was incredibly genuine in her love for Sean, and it was obvious to anyone who was watching just how devastated she was to be losing her relationship with Sean.
But luckily, through the magic of TV, we can now see Desiree put others through the same torment that she once endured. Which brings us to tonight, when the lucky Des got to meet 25 of America's most eligible bachelors.
Please note that normally while Bachelor(ette) blogging I take notes based upon my own feelings as well as Michelle's and then I compile a comprehensive recap that includes our thoughts and opinions and share it here with you, our fellow reality TV junkie friends :) Tonight, however, was a little different as I was simultaneously trying to watch the show, not spill my drink, work on my reading endorsement, and take notes I realized I was not Super Woman, and I could not take on all of those tasks at once. So, tonight's blog post will be created through a reading of notes Michelle took during the show... so we'll see how that goes. ;)
After meeting all 25 guys we actually feel like Desiree does not have a lot of great material to choose from. There are a few great guys in the bunch, but overall, after first meet, we do not think this is an especially great bunch of gentlemen. This will undoubtedly make it super easy for Des in the beginning as she sends the losers home, but really difficult at the end when she only has the good ones left. OR- we will be completely wrong and think that a whole lot of them are wonderful after a few episodes. (Reminder, we did think Tierra was pretty great after last season's first show.. we were clearly wrong there.)
Overall, we only had a few faves:
Bryden, in the Army, communicates well, and made a good conenction (I think he is my favorite)
Ben, the single dad who shamelessly used his adorable child on the first night
Chris, because he had a funny shoe proposal
Our least favorites included:
Jonathan, the inappropriate guy who could NOT take a hint and who was sent home early. No one is going to the fantasy suite with you, buddy.
Larry, very nervous, weird and creepy. His meet-cute dance move failed and he could not let it go, which may have been ok if it wasn't for the fact that he was so creepy.
Nick- the magician/tailor. No one needs a suit maker who can pull a quarter from your ear
#Kasey- #Kasey has some kind of job in which he hashtags. This causes him to speak in hashtags. I will forever only call him #Kasey.
Zak W.- This is not a usual complain of the Couch Potato Princesses, but- PUT ON A SHIRT. He was shirtless in most of his promo package, then he got out of the limo shirtless, then he remained shirtless at the cocktail party, then he went swimming shirtless... also pantsless.
Will- he does yoga and loves high fives. We don't mind those things, in small doses. We did however mind that he shouted his love for Desiree immediately after learning she was the Bachelorette. We will now only refer to him as Premature Will, or PW for short.
Desiree sent home a total of 8 guys:
Dr. Larry- the creepy, unsuccessful dancer
Nick- POOF! She made you disappear
Diogo- Yes, Diogo, not Diego. I should mention that he was legit in a suit of armor. So there's that.
Mike- The British dentist who lost his British accent.. and his chance at Bachelorette love.
Michael G- I literally remember nothing about him...
Jonathan- the guy who was a bigger jerk than Kalan or Bentley
Micah- Were you even a contestant?
Nick M- I don't remember you either
Looking forward to another great season of drama and fun and sharing our thoughts with you!
Please comment and let us know your favorites/least favorites or funniest moments of the night.
